Welcome to the new GENIIMA. We've rebuilt the site on a faster, independent platform. Unfortunately, member accounts couldn't be transferred from our old system, so if you were already a member, please register again. Join the list below and we'll let you know the moment new sign-ups open. Thank you for being with us from the start.

Privacy & Cookies

Last updated 31 October 2026.

These pages explain how GENIIMA works and how we handle requests. They are written in plain English, are not legal advice, and do not limit any rights you have by law.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Dale Wright trading as GENIIMA. Contact: geniima.ai@gmail.com. If GENIIMA is required to register with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), we will publish the registration number here.

What we collect and why

  • Member list / re-registration. If you join the list using our form or email us to join or re-register, we keep your email address, name (if given), whether you were a member of the old site, and your message. We use them to reply and to tell you when sign-ups open and about new films, as you asked. Lawful basis: your consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us or replying “unsubscribe”.
  • Film submissions. If you submit a film, we keep your creator name, email, the film title, YouTube link, AI tools, any notes, and your confirmations, so that we can review the film, contact you, and keep a record of your permission. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request and our legitimate interests in running a credited showcase (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)). We delete rejected submissions within 12 months.
  • Enquiries, creator and takedown requests. We keep your contact details, the request and our correspondence so that we can handle it and keep a record of copyright and removal decisions. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running the site and responding to rights holders, and legal obligations where they apply (Art. 6(1)(f) and (c)).
  • Server logs. Our host may record IP addresses and browser details in standard server logs for security and fault-finding. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

GENIIMA has no visitor accounts and no advertising trackers, and never asks for passwords. We do run our own cookieless visitor statistics (see “Visitor statistics” below).

Visitor statistics (cookieless)

To understand which pages and films people use, we record an anonymous event when a page loads and when you press play on a film. Each event holds: the time, the page path, the film watched (if any), the website that referred you (domain name only, never the full address), a broad device type (mobile, tablet, desktop) and, where our hosting provider supplies it, your country.

  • No cookies, no local storage, no fingerprinting across days. Nothing is stored on or read from your device for statistics.
  • Your IP address is never stored. To count unique visitors, our server combines your IP address and browser type with a random value that changes every day and turns them into a one-way code (a hash). The random daily value is deleted after a day, so codes cannot be reversed or linked to you or across days.
  • The statistics are only visible to the GENIIMA operator, are stored with Supabase (London region), are never sold or shared for advertising, and individual events are deleted after 25 months.
  • Lawful basis: legitimate interests in running and improving the site. Because no data is stored on or read from your device, the cookie consent rules under PECR do not apply, so statistics run without asking you first. You can still object by emailing geniima.ai@gmail.com, or by blocking scripts.

Who we share it with

Form entries are stored in a database run for us by Supabase, Inc. as our processor, hosted in the AWS London region (eu-west-2) in the UK. Our email provider (Google, for Gmail), our web host (IONOS) and, for notification emails to us, an email delivery provider also process data for us. We don't sell your data. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

Member-list emails: until you unsubscribe, or 2 years after our last contact. General enquiries: up to 2 years. Takedown and copyright records: up to 6 years, in case of legal claims.

Cookies, YouTube embeds and similar technologies

GENIIMA itself sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Our forms send your details straight to our database and set no cookies. We store two small settings in your browser's local storage: one remembers that you dismissed the welcome notice, and one remembers your choice about YouTube previews. Both are strictly necessary to respect your choices. Our visitor statistics use no cookies or device storage at all.

YouTube player. Films play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Under the UK's Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and ICO guidance:

  • On watch pages, nothing from YouTube loads until you press play. When you do, YouTube (Google) may store or read data on your device and receive your IP address and viewing activity under the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Automatic muted previews (on the home page hero and when you hover over film cards) only load if you choose Allow previews in our cookie banner. If you choose Keep off, they don't load.
  • You can change your choice at any time: Cookie settings.

Thumbnails and fonts. Film thumbnails load from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com). Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so no font requests go to Google. The image server receives your IP address when thumbnails load, but sets no cookies through GENIIMA.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict how we use it, ask for a copy to take elsewhere, and withdraw consent. Email geniima.ai@gmail.com; we will reply within one month. If you're unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113.

Children

GENIIMA is not aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has sent us their details, contact us and we'll delete them.

Changes

We'll update this notice if what we do changes, and change the date at the top.
